The USS Liberty, a United States Navy technical research ship, was attacked on June 8, 1967, during the Six-Day War by Israeli forces.

The assault involved air and naval forces, resulting in the deaths of 34 crew members and injuries to 171 others. Despite the ship being clearly marked as American, it was subjected to a prolonged attack lasting nearly two hours.

The incident sparked controversy and extensive investigations, with debates continuing over whether the attack was a tragic mistake or intentional.
